[bull-ia] open call for MS2T research chair

MS2T Research Chair in Technological Systems of Systems
“Cooperation and interaction between mobile systems”

Université de Technologie de Compiègne – France

As part of The French “Investments for the Future” program, the Laboratory of Excellence (Labex) MS2T (www.labexms2t.fr) at Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC, www.utc.fr) in France, supported by Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, www.cnrs.fr), invites applications for a Research Chair in the field of Technological Systems of Systems.

Co-funded by the Labex MS2T, the Regional Council of Hauts-de-France and the European Regional Development Fund, the Research Chair aims at attracting a highly qualified, internationally acclaimed, research scientist to help strengthen the three components of the MS2T project: research, training and valorization.

Research
Building on the Mobile Robotics platforms of the Labex, the Chair holder will bring new skills striving towards excellence in the particular field of “Cooperation and interaction between mobile systems”. He/she will be invited to take part or work in close relation with existing Labex challenge teams such as DIVINA (Distributed Cooperative Visual Navigation for Multi-UAV Systems) and/or DAPAD (Distributed and Augmented Vehicle Perception to Support Autonomous Driving).

Training
The chair holder will contribute to the ongoing Master program « Complex Systems in Interaction », which is backed by the Labex. They will be invited to supervise some lab projects, as part of the training of engineering students using experimental platforms.

Valorization
The theme of the Chair is in the continuity of axes supported by the Regional Council of Hauts-de-France, in line with the axes of the European program Horizon 2020. The chair holder will address several regional issues such as developing emerging industries and the attractiveness of the territory through innovation. They should be able to raise funds from national, European and International programs in relation with the Labex Club of Affiliates (industrial partners). They will be invited to take part in the organization of international seminars and specific sessions of the MS2T Summer School.

Qualifications
The chair holder should have held the Ph.D. or equivalent professional degree, with strong record of research publications. Depending on their qualifications and experience, the candidate can pretend to a junior or senior chair of excellence.

Funding
The chair holder will benefit from an endowed package including a team start-up budget (post-doctoral and/or doctoral contracts, equipment costs, travel grants). Salary, benefits and employment conditions will be in accordance with the public agreement for French state-universities and national research institutions. Tenured academic positions are not granted, but may be opened to the most successful recipients.

Timeline
The research chair is being advertised internationally. The chair will be funded until December 31, 2019, starting in March-April 2017.

Application Procedure
The applicant should send to laurie.herlin@utc.fr and franck.davoine@utc.fr
